Feature Requests

As I’ve mentioned previously, user input is vital for a successful project, which is why I aim to get as much user input as early on as possible. So what do you want to see in a web based project management system? Or if you currently use a project management system, what would you say its ‘killer’ feature is?

This is also being discussed in the CodeIgniter forums, and can be found in this thread (you must be registered to post to the forums, but can view as a guest).

  1. Personally there are a few things I would like to see in a Project Management System.
Firstly a tiered user system would be a great addition to the software so that you can grant different people access to certain parts of the project, like having a designer limited to modules from the design category.
Secondly I would love to see some form of web based annotation software for annotating images, possibly even taking it as far as having a flash based group annotation on this aspect.

  2. An easy way to “publish” your finished projects into a gallery for potential clients to see would be nice :)

Maybe, real-time estimated completion dates for features, based on the current rate of progress for that feature and normalized against all previous feature completion times which were estimated as having that completion time.

So use a statistical model of all previous feature completion times (compared to their estimated time) and use that to estimate the completion time for the current feature. So it’s a mix of estimated and observed data, which might give a more accurate representation of feature completion times.

Good luck with that, btw :)

An easy way for everybody invloved in the project to be able to see all the stages of devlopment and the progress each department has made.
